Riceville Elementary School administration and SROs were notified of a student allegedly possessing a firearm on campus by concerned students and parents today, Friday, September 15, 2023. After a swift and thorough investigation by the administration and school resource officer, it was determined that there was no weapon or threat on campus. It turns out a student accidentally brought a spent shotgun shell to school and showed their peers which raised the concern. The safety and security of our students are of utmost importance. Thank you to the concerned students and parents who reported this incident so that appropriate measures can be taken promptly.
